Children’s Hospital of Orange County (CHOC) is one of the best children’s hospitals in the U.S. and is exclusively committed to the health and well-being of children through clinical expertise, advocacy, outreach, and research that brings advanced treatment to pediatric patients. Affiliated with the University of California, Irvine (UCI), CHOC’s regional healthcare network includes two state-of-the-art hospitals in Orange and Mission Viejo, several primary and specialty care clinics, a pediatric residency program, and four centers of excellence.
CHOC receives donations generated by a football event organized by Glenn and Lauri Welling, and supported by CHOC professional advisory board member, Ralph Adamo. The yearly event grew into a full neighborhood fundraiser in Newport Beach featuring not just the Big Game on 10 TVs but a burger truck, a frozen yogurt truck, a game bus for teens, and a bounce house for kids. Due to its success and broad appeal, the Welling’s turned their annual football party into a fundraising event for CHOC. “We figured if we were going to have 300 people come to the party, it would be nice to use the event as an excuse to do something good for the community. The feedback and support have been just fantastic,” said Welling.
The event, THE BIG GAME Football Fundraiser, is funded by the Welling’s with the expectation that all families or individuals in attendance make a donation to CHOC. “This is one small step to a larger initiative to help raise funds for ill children in need in our community,” says Ralph Adamo, a major supporter of the event and long time Orange County resident and CEO of Integrity Wealth Management.
